The ornamental cherry tree is beginning to bloom. One of my favourite signs of spring. Such a beautiful frilly pink colour! Today I was busy with planting and harvesting shoots and greens and delivering them to various spots around the island.Then I picked up another load of big heavy bags of seed from the post office. Mostly seeds for pea shoots, sunflower shoots and various microgreens, about 150lbs. of them.I’m glad that I’ve found a supplier  [. . .]

Altho’ they’re wonderful to have all year ’round, I can’t think of a better time of year than January and February to be growing sunflower shoot greens! There aren’t many flowers out in the garden these days so it’s nice to have this beautiful white amaryllis blooming indoors now. The last couple weeks have brought us ideally mild winter pea shoot growing conditions in the unheated greenhouse and the greens are doing very well! About the Garden

Christina’s Garden is a small market garden on Mayne Island, one of the Southern Gulf Islands located in the Salish Sea between Vancouver and Victoria, BC, Canada.

We put love and care into producing a variety of delicious and nutritious shoots and microgreens for year round sales to Mayne Islanders and folks in Victoria and on the mainland. We also offer a variety of home grown vegetables, seasonal flower bouquets and bedding plants for home gardens at our roadside stand and the Saturday Market on Mayne Island.
